Newport Sunshine Initiative
Founded by Newport native, Jay Lucas, in January of 2018, the Newport Sunshine Initiative is a nonprofit group aimed at rejuvenating the town of Newport. Through federal grants and dedicated community volunteers, the Initiative is bringing opportunity, economic growth, and a safe, stable environment to the families of Newport.
Why Newport, Why Now?
Newport is a beautiful town and a great community to call home. But with limited job opportunity and lessening economic growth, more and more of its residents are hurting. The Sunshine Initiative is a grassroots effort working to revitalize our community, bringing jobs in, and improving the business environment. Because of the Sunshine Initiative, we will have access to more opportunities, including technological training, an improved community center, and new businesses.
